I can honestly say that one of the most delightful things about being married to this man has been seeing him be a father - he is the best! Before we were married, I knew he was wonderful with smaller kids since we spent a lot of time with family nephews (and actually of all ages - afterall he is an excellent teacher of any grades 7-12). But I have been blown away to see how much he loves our own kids and how much they adore him.
He is most certainly both Jude and Benedict's favorite person. Benedict has always had a special kind of attachment to him - when he started crawling he would crawl to the front door and cry when Mike left the house - but he never cried when I left! These days Jude's saying is "When I grow up, I'm going to fill in the blank like Dad!" A few weeks ago he said in his enthusiastic bubbly voice while touching Mike's face, "When I grow up, I'm going to be a bearded boy like Dad!".
